The second Super Rugby match in Round two is the first match of the 2012 Super Rugby season for the Melbourne Rebels and they host the Waratahs.

We are waiting for the kick off.
 
After a minute's silence the match is underway.
 
2.00: Rebels start well. They work the ball into the Waratahs half and start going through the phases.
 
3.00: Penalty in front of the posts for the Rebels.
 
4.00: James O'Connor takes the kick and slots it. Rebels lead.
 
6.00: Waratahs start working the ball through the phases but from inside their own half.
 
8.00: The Rebels are playing a clever game by keeping the Waratahs in tehir own half. The Waratahs sting together 5 or 6 phases and get over the half way line.
 
10.00: The Rebels continue to bang away at the Rebels in their phases and then Tom Carter busts through the defence and scores the first TRY!!
 
12.00: Daniel Halangahu adds the conversion.
 
16.00: Penalty to the Rebels. James O'Connor takes the kick and nails it.
 
19.00: Waratahs have had six handling errors to the Rebels one so far. The Waratahs are much more in command of the game now though.
 
22.00: Lots of niggle creaping into the match now as tempers rise.Waratahs win a scrum in their half but fail to make much ground in the first phase. The second phase gains more ground and they win a penalty.
 
24.00: Halangahu takes the shot but misses.
 
28.00: The Waratahs take their time and go through the phases and eventually Tom Carter scores in the corner. His second TRY!!
 
29.00: Halangahu's conversion goes to the left.
 
31.00: Penalty to the Waratahs. Bernard Foley takes the shot and nails it.
 
33.00: Penalty to the Waratahs again. They kick for touch.
 
37.00: Waratahs moving the ball around at pace which is putting the Rebels defence under presure. They continue to press and then Sekope Kepu bashes through for his first ever Super Rugby TRY!!
 
38.00: Halangahu takes the conversion kick and slots it.
 
40.02: The siren goes for half time and that is it. Half time.

The second half is underway.
 
42.00: The Rebels missed 21 tackles in the first half. The Waratahs start at pace and run the ball straight up to the Rebels tryline.
 
43.00: Foley takes a dive for the line and scores. Bonus Point TRY!!
 
44.00: Halangahu adds the conversion and the Waratahs have a very healthy lead.
 
47.00: There is a bit of push and shove in the game again and it spills over on to the advertising boards. The officials try to work out who was to blame. Penalty against Bernard Foley.
 
49.00: Waratahs set up a drive through the forwards for the Rebels line but the home side turn the ball over and win a penalty. Palu comes off and is replaced by Lopeti Timani. Rebels kick for touch.
 
52.00: The Waratahs split the Rebels defence and its a mad scramble by the Rebels but they get back in time. The Waratahs try to attack but the Rebels turn the ball over on the 5m line and boot it out.
 
55.00: Rebels trying to hold on to the ball. They string together 5 phases but the Waratahs defence holds them out. They do however concede a penalty so the Rebels will kick for posts.
 
58.00: James O'Connor takes the kick and nails it. They got the points but they really should have gone for the line out and the try.
 
61.00:Another penalty for the Rebels so they kick for posts again. O'Connor nails this one too.
 
63.00: Penalty to the Waratahs as Timani is told ""You've only just come on, you can go off again, so come on" after he swiped his boot on a Rebels player.
 
63.00: Halangahu adds the penalty.
 
65.00: The Rebels get the ball in the Waratahs 25 and drive for the line. Tatafu Polota-Nau collapses the maul and is shown a yellow card but the Rebels are awarded a penalty try.
 
66.00: James O'Connor adds the conversion.
 
68.00:The Waratahs seem to have lost their momentum and its all the Rebels now.
 
71.00: The Waratahs get another penalty as Damien Fitzpatrick gets some attention medically. Halangahu adds the penalty.  
 
75.00: Waratahs using the time well while TPN is in the sin bin. As the hookers are off for the Waratahs we have uncontested scrums.
 
77.00: Rebels get the ball into the Waratahs 25 but the Waratahs turn the ball over and kick it out to safety.
 
78.00: Penalty against Luke Jones so the Waratahs kick the ball further into touch.
 
79.00: Rebels still chasing another try as the Rebels have a defensive 5m line out. They win the line out but try to run it out first and then kick it out.
 
80.03: The siren sounds and the whistle follows. Thats it.
